"CHASING RAINBOWS"

#1 in The Endangered Species Series (ES Series)
30”x40” – Acrylic on Gallery Style Framed Canvas
Endangered Species Series: The first in the ES Series, this piece embodies what rainbows represent: HOPE

Inspiration: Irish legends have every rainbow ending in a pot of gold. If that were true in real life we’d all be chasing rainbows during our stormy hours. Each Species depicted in the pieces of this ongoing Series beckons mankind to provide them with hope as well as fruitful rainbows before it’s too late.

Concealed Images: Through a maze of lily pads, the struggle for survival spurs an endangered Sea Otter on, as 3 rainbow trout narrowly escape.

“When things look their darkest, look for the rainbow. When things REALLY look their darkest – BE the rainbow.” ~ Maya Angelou

Note: a percentage of the sales from this ongoing series will be given to a wildlife fund (t.b.a.)

Mim's Art - Exposed - "CASSANDRA"

24”x30” – Acrylic on Gallery Style Framed Canvas

Meaning: Prophetess of Doom. In Greek myth Cassandra was a Trojan princess, the daughter of Priam and Hecuba. She was given the gift of prophecy by Apollo, but when she spurned his advances he cursed her so nobody would believe her prophecies

Inspiration: For this piece Mim was inspired by the mysterious depths of an insightful friend with wild hair and a fascination with the unrelenting sea.

Concealed Images: A beautiful mermaid torments over an ancient world, now reclaimed by blue depths. Amongst the bubbles, schools of fish can be seen swimming through a dilapidated archway overhanging an ornate door. A pillar with a Templar Knight sinks slowly into the ground, surrounded by squids, jellyfish, sea horses, and batfish.

Mim's Art - Exposed - "JESSICA"

20”x30” – Acrylic on Gallery Style Framed Canvas

Meaning: God’ Grace - This name was first used by Shakespeare in his play 'The Merchant of Venice', where it belonged to the daughter of Shylock.

Inspiration: Reminiscent of one of the long long souls in Mim’s world – bubbly but wild natured, forever swimming in a sea of endless turmoil.

Concealed Images: See if you can spot the Mermaid with flowing hair and outstretched hands. A large whale passes through her body, intertwining their shapes and colours. Some smaller images to find are: another smaller whale, some jelly fish, a few smaller fish, a turtle, a starfish, a clam, and a sea horse.
