24”x30” – Acrylic on Gallery Style Framed Canvas
Meaning: Prophetess of
Doom. In Greek myth Cassandra was a Trojan
princess, the daughter of Priam and Hecuba. She was given the gift of prophecy
by Apollo, but when she spurned his advances he cursed her so nobody would
believe her prophecies
Inspiration: For this piece Mim
was inspired by the mysterious depths of an insightful friend with wild hair and
a fascination with the unrelenting sea.
Concealed Images: A beautiful
mermaid torments over an ancient world, now reclaimed by blue depths. Amongst
the bubbles, schools of fish can be seen swimming through a dilapidated archway
overhanging an ornate door. A pillar with a Templar Knight sinks slowly into
the ground, surrounded by squids, jellyfish, sea horses, and batfish.
