18”x30” – Acrylic on Thin Styled Framed Canvas
Meaning: A free spirit.
Inspiration: This painting is a combination of many meaningful things: an adventurous spirit yearning to fly; family ties grounding from within; First Nations heritage beckoning for the appreciation of surroundings; and finally, Canada and Australia, dual homes forever tearing a heart in two. The ‘Birth & Rebirth’ of childhood dreams of Australia (which may as well be on the moon from Canada) take on new meaning when shared with a beloved.
Concealed Images: Near a small fire, a Native American woman (kwe) hugs her knees and looks up at the moon, visualizing a faraway land. A lone pine tree and eagle are silhouetted in the distance, while a Phoenix emerges from the embers. As if watching from above, a large Eagle's head can be found in the background – peering into her soul, and carrying her prayers to Creator.
